New Mums Bums & Tums

New Mums Bums and Tums

Start your postnatal fitness journey with confidence

This class is for new mums who want to start their post natal fitness journey in a safe way with the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist/fitness instructor.

The class targets the areas that change significantly through pregnancy and need most attention afterwards to ensure you are strong to move on to other activities.

The class is for new mums so pre crawling babies are welcome – just bring them in with their car seat/pram and have a mat/blanket that they can lie on next to you if necessary.

Ensure that you have strengthened up the areas that have weakened the most during pregnancy.

I meet new mums on a regular basis and I am aware that the areas that cause the biggest ‘bother’ to them are the tummy and the bottom! These areas go through huge changes through pregnancy due to a change in posture and this results in a weakness in the muscles of these areas which normally have the job of giving you some strength and stability.

It’s great that mums are keen to get back to exercise and want to look after themselves, but if these areas aren’t addressed appropriately and safely, more problems can be made doing the wrong exercise at the wrong time, making a return to exercise a longer than necessary process with potential injuries on the way.

FAQ's

  • When can I come to this class?

You are welcome to come to this class following your post natal GP check or when you are 12 weeks post c section. You can come to this class with your baby until they are mobile as you will then spend more time attending to them than exercising!

  • What does my baby do when I'm at the class?

Your baby can be next to you in a car seat or on a play mat/blanket that you bring with you. If you walk and bring a pram, there is plenty of space for the pram to be in the room with us which is great if your baby is asleep!

  • What happens if my baby cries?

No problem! Pick them up for a cuddle and then try again. If you need to feed then carry on.
