Traditional coaching is known to look at where an individual wants to be in the future and address the obstacles that are limiting this and to make a plan to overcome the obstacles and reach the desired outcome.

Therapeutic coaching is still looking at assisting you in achieving where you would like to be in the future, but the process of getting there is different.  The journey to the change is different because we will with your permission, look in to your past and examine where previous stumbling blocks to progress may have been and also explore the somatic (body sensations/feelings) that may be experienced when trying to get through a difficulty. The somatic responses to feelings of unease and difficulties moving forward, need to be acknowledged and worked through for them to ease and give the ability to reach the next step.

As a woman there are two big potential transitional periods in your life. The first is if we go through a journey into motherhood and the second is going through the perimenopause into menopause. There may of course be many other times in your life depending on the course that your life takes that could cause emotional upset and occasions where your body may hold on to the emotions caused by stressful or upsetting events.  All these transitions have the potential to upset your circulating hormones which may change your ability to show resilience in how you respond to difficult times and overall, an upset in your parasympathetic nervous system, which under normal circumstances helps to keep you in a calm state that allows bodily functions to occur efficiently.

The perimenopause and menopause can be a period of time when overwhelm and anxiety may take over and possibly bring up prior emotional upset that you could previously keep a lid on!

Within a Therapeutic Coaching session, space will be held for you to connect with your own thoughts and feelings and how the emotions from these can give you a somatic response (sensations of unease within the body). We will work in to the feelings of unease together and work to pass through them as your body allows. This can create emotional upset as this process is experienced, the pace will be led by you and with time it will remove the stubborn stumbling block previously experienced and allow you to move on with a different outlook.

The whole process of this can take several sessions to achieve as we delve in to what may be blocking the progress so it is vital to have a good rapport between us to achieve this. If you would like to see if we are a fit to move through this process together, then please book in for a discovery call and we can discuss the problem you would like help with and determine if we can work well together.

I look forward to hearing from you.
